The Research Unit “European Policies and Democracy” (the precursor to CEDLAW) organized and had the honor to host at the University of Macedonia the esteemed Justice Mr. Antonis Tsalaportas<\/strong>, President of the three-member Board of Directors of the Court of Appeal of Thessaloniki, to give a lecture on \u201cPhilosophy of Penalty\u201d on Wednesday, March 28, 2018.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Mr Tsalaportas<\/strong> analyzed the philosophy of the sentences being given by a judicial officer and, in particular, the factors taken into account in the event of the law\u2019s discretion regarding the length and type of the sentence, referring to his extensive personal experience. At the end of the lecture, the audience was able to ask questions and discuss with Mr. Tsalaportas.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
