CEDLAW and the\u00a0Heinrich B\u00f6ll Stiftung Greece-Thessaloniki Office<\/a>, co-organized on Tuesday 12 October 2021, at 16:30-19:30, an online conference in the aftermath of the German federal elections that took place on Sunday 26 September 2021. This election race will not only determine those to fill the over 598 Bundestag seats and the Chancellor to succeed Angela Merkel, but is expected to mark a turning point not merely for Germany, but for Europe as a whole.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Our online onference aimed to serve as a platform for discussing the turnout of the German elections, the political expectations, and the probable impact on both the Germany-EU and the Germany-Greece nexus. Political analysts, psephologists, and academics have, therefore, been invited to share their views on the German elections\u2019 turnout. The speakers will be divided into two distinct panels under the moderation of Mrs. Xenia Kounalaki, journalist and foreign news editor in Kathimerini newspaper. The first panel will elaborate on the outcome of the German elections, including its impact on the internal affairs of Germany, the political personnel, the parties, and the public opinion, and its significance to the EU-Germany relations, and the second panel on the outcome of the German elections, including its impact on the internal affairs of Germany, the political personnel, the parties, and the public opinion, and on the ties and cooperation between Germany and Greece. Each panel of speakers will be asked to include in their analysis their views and projections on the future role of Germany in the EU, and the possible changes and\/or rifts in terms of Germany\u2019s external policy (with a special focus on Turkey, Russia, the Balkans, and the Eastern Mediterranean area). Once the two panels of speakers conclude, a Round Table discussion will follow.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The online conference will be open to the public to attend, free of charge, after registration\u00a0here<\/a>. The streaming link will be sent at the e-mail address used for registration.\u00a0The working language of this event is English. Interpretation will be provided into and from Greek.<\/p>

In order to further nurture the discussion, the audience will have the option to participate in an online polling to anonymously express their views.
